A global perspective is essential to Bowie State University's academic mission. Studying abroad is one of the best ways to acquire global skills, cross-cultural competence, and access personal and professional opportunities that will prepare you to live and work in a culturally diverse society. Schedule an appointment with your study abroad coordinator or attend an information session to begin the process.
Bowie State University offers three types of study abroad opportunities.
- Faculty-led
Faculty members take a few students abroad to study and learn about their area of expertise and typically center around research or cultural exploration. - University-University exchange
Bowie State University has formal partnerships with various universities that allow students to take classes in different countries. When you take a class at a partner institution, those credits transfer over as easily as if you had taken them on Bowie State’s campus. - Third Party Provider
You work with a Bowie State-approved independent organization that facilitates your study abroad experience. These providers typically offer a broader range of programs and locations to choose from and act as intermediaries who help you with logistics, like course registration and housing arrangements.
Schedule an appointment or attend an information session to learn more about the programs available this semester or to inquire about an opportunity you have in mind.
