About the Program
Data Analytics is one of the four main pillars in the College of Business. Since 2017 the College of Business has embarked on the enhancement of Data Analytics skills through Data Science and Analytics (DSA) learning communities, faculty upskilling workshops, undergraduate research, and the infusion of five Data Science and Analytics Modules modules.
Our five DSA modules in Data Science, Data Visualization, Data Analytics, Database Management, and Machine Learning have impacted over 1,500 students to date. In 2017, three faculty members in the College of Business and one faculty member in the College of Arts and Science created the Data Science Analytics Initiative, funded by the National Science Foundation grant. Through this original NSF grant, we have fostered additional contracts and grants with the Behavioral Health Administration, National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Health (NIH), The Department of Health and Human Services, and Housing and Urban Development.
During the academic year of 2021 and 2022, the College of Business began offering a Concentration in Data Analytics and a campus-wide Upper-Division Certificate in Data Analytics for all majors and post-bachelors graduates.
The College of Business' new initiatives in 2022 included:
- The opening of the Data Analytics Research Technology and Trading Lab, known as the DARTT LAb, which is located on the first floor of the College of Business and virtually
- The Data Analytics Summer Camp for High Schoolers
